TRENDS

08.02.2019

Almost all of us love flowers, whether it is a trend or not… Therefore, designers also add them to their collections every season. They sometimes predominate all styles as the macro trend of the season, and sometimes turn into a micro trend and take their place in the collections even though they are not under the spotlights. In brief, 2019 Spring-summer season will also be a ‘flowery’ season. However, flowers of the new season are somehow different this time.

First of all, the sizes of flowers get quite smaller. The repeated models of minimal flowers are drawing attention. Secondly, the colours of patterns are becoming simpler. The sparkly colours are substituted by patterns ornamented with a neutral colour palette. This unavoidably clears away the bohemian atmosphere created by flower patterns and add a romantic and feminine image to them instead.

There is an important reason of this preference. One of the most important style trends of 2019 Spring-summer season is based on the ‘mix & match’ principle. Different patterns, for example, flowery ones are combined with striped ones and geometric patterns are combined with animal print patterns. Although it sounds complicating, this confusion creates attractive and striking styles by following certain mathematics. Thus, flowery patterns change their shells in order to adapt to the other patterns as much as possible. In summary, you can combine the flowery patterns that we see in fabrics completely printed from head to foot also with the other patterns this season. However, while doing this, it is important for you to try to catch a colour mathematics, for the sake of not appearing like a lunatic that has randomly worn everything found around. Combining different patterns of the same tones would be a safe starting point.
