Hollywood starts and the legendary characters that they gave life to on the silver screen have always been on the top of the agenda. When it comes to women, this admiration gains another dimension: What they wear and what they use as jewellery… Setting off from this area of interest, Julien, the famous auction house, put out for sales the jewelleries used by the most popular characters played by Hollywood stars in their films through two auctions held on 17 and 18 November 2017. It is estimated that the proceeds from the sales of such jewelleries that were completely sold out amounted to 2.4 million pounds. The jewelleries most of which were stored in a depot in Burbank-California included, inter alia, the iconic items such as earrings used by Marilyn Monroe in the film named ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’, the brooch worn by Rita Hayworth in the film named ‘Cover Girl’, and the snake cuff worn by Elizabeth Taylor in the film named Cleopatra. All the jewelleries found their buyers. However, their purchase prices were not disclosed.
